Stella McCartney S/S 2012

Stella McCartney described her collection with one word: “Summer!”, she defintely nailed it. Very clean silhouettes and cuts of the collection are spiced up with funky patterns, making each outfit fun and functional. Stella is the official creative designer for the British Olympic Team for the 2012 games, and she seems to have used that as inspiration for this collection. She uses athletic mesh separated by three-dimensional swirls along side patchwork prints and even lace, in a variety of polos, shorts, suit sets, and cute summer dresses.

Gianni Versace - a true inspriration.

The 50-year-old fashion designer Gianni Versace was gunned down on the stairs of his Miami apartment in 1997 by a serial murderer.

Gianni was a true inspiration, and a true artist who had the vision that a lot of designers at the time did not have. He traveled through out the whole world to find fine silks and other fabrics; Morocco, Russia, Italy, for his big shows. This guy is a true inspiration to me, and lets not forget a true artist who was the visionary of his time, lets be inspired by his work and creativity even in this day and age.

Mechanical Dolls in Vogue Italia

The October issue of Vogue Italia features an editorial, shot by Tim Walker, with Audrey Marnay & Kirsi Pyrhonen looking like mechanical dolls. This is one of the most original and creative editorials i've seen since Natalia Vodianova was shot as Alice in Wonderland for Vogue USA back in 2003. The dolls wear outfits from designers such as Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Alberta Ferretti, and Kenzo. Wish I had those outfits for my dolls while growing up, and for my self now! Talk about INSPIRATION!

Mayer Hawthorne

Mayer Hawthorne grew up just outside of Detroit, and draws inspiration from musicians like Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson, Mike Terry, Barry White and Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield. His style is basically smooth, funky retro, that you can dance to or just simply listen. I saw him in concert when he was on tour for his last album A Strange Arrangement in March 2010, and absolutely fell in love with his music. He just released his new album titled How Do You Do, the complete review for it is here, I love it!

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

Sarah Burton, the designer that is now behind Alexander McQueen, continues on with the tradition on making some of the most exiting and ground braking collections to see season after season. According to the Vogue website, her inspiration was "Gaia, the wonder of nature, the sea.” The dresses and shoes are constructed of encrustations of beading and mother-of-pearl, rivulets of microscopic pleats, filigrees of leather, cascades of ruffles, and miles of lace. The collection reminds me of the intricate details found in the works of Antoni Gaudi in building such as Sagrada de Familia, La Pedrera and Parc Guell in Barcelona which are also inspired by mother nature.
