Magical Creatures by Wildfox and Francesca Lia Block

I love Wildfox, because looking at their collections always makes me feel like a little girl reading a fashion fairytale, exept this time I really am.
"Magical Creatures is a story written for Wildfox by critically acclaimed author, Francesca Lia Block. Francesca has been an inspiration for Wildfox creators, Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon, since before the birth of Wildfox in 2007. Together Francesca, Emily and Kim have based a collection of dreamy T shirts on the story of 3 very different, magical girls who live in our favorite Wildfox cities – Ella, a fairy from Los Angeles, Cherie, a gypsy from Paris, and Dahlia, a witch from New York. Francesca tells a story of these three girls and their important friendship, a metaphorical weaving of magic and mystery, beautiful clothes, and romantic back drops." Read the rest here

Long exposure photography

In addition to my last post about Liminal Rites photography, using long exposure can create some amazing images. Last christmas I experimented with photographing the light on my tree, with movement, here are the results.

To do these I used a Cannon Rebele Xsi with a EF-S 17-85mm lens.  I set the camera with low ISO to get as little noise as possible, and started with shutter speeds of 10-20 seconds at F/8, experimenting with slightly different settings, and different ways of moving the camera, to get the best result.

Liminal Rites Photography

Liminal Rites is a 10 year collaboration between Aloyse Blair  and Janelle Pietrzak. Working together for over 10 years, they have been combining their expertise in performance art and  long exposure photography to create dreamy, haunting art photographs, that show multiple time dimension and spontaneous spiritual beauty.

Coco Rocha - April Harper's Bazaar Singapore

In this editorial for April Harper's Bazaar Singapore she was shot by Simon Upton wearing Celine, Atsuko Kudo and Zana Bayne, and lookign fierce as always.

The inspiration was slicked sexy pintail braid that lets you work your magic, by showing off the face, and the beautiful cloths. it's a perfect fresh look that works just as great off the runway, and is also great for spring and summer.

Makoto Tojiki - Light Sculptures

Japanese artist Makoto Tojikil is fascinated by light and uses it in ways that create illusions and out-of-this-world experiences. He was born in 1975 in Miyzaki, Japan, and graduated from Kinki University in 1998 as an industrial design engineer. In the past he designed home appliances, launching his artistic career in 2003. His No Shadow pieces show large animal and human sculptures made of strands of light.  I love how ethereal and dreamy they look and how they show movement evoking a sense of playfulness.

Of the No Shadow pieces, Tojikil says “An object is seen when our eyes capture light that is reflected from the object. If we extract just the light that is reflected from ‘something,’ are we still in the presence of that ‘something?’ Using contours of light, I try to express this ‘something.’
